Do You Ever Worry About Workplace Safety?
You may remember when you first started your business, workplace safety was a high priority. You were in the process of finding the right insurance for your business, so you took very good care to keep everything as safe as you can. Now it may have been a while since you have been in business and you notice that some of the safety processes you once implemented are falling to the wayside. There is no time like the present to reevaluate your workplace’s safety and get a good program in place.
Take a survey of all the areas your employees work. Do any of them need any changes to make them safer? Perhaps the carpeting is worn and is a tripping hazard. Or the filing cabinet drawers don’t always stay closed, and you are worried that someone is going to walk right into them one of these days. Now is a great time to replace those items.
Also, take notice of how your employees conduct themselves at work. Are they working as safely as possible? It might be a good idea to have a team meeting to implement some new safety procedures that you require of your employees. Start up an incentive program to reward your employees for following the guidelines. For example, if your employees go without an accident for a certain amount of time, they can be rewarded with an extra 15 minutes during break time, or something else of your choice.
If you are having trouble implementing a safety program, contact your insurance agent. He can help you get in touch with your carrier’s loss control department who will help you get a good program in place. It is very important to run a safe workplace. Try your best to avoid claims, and everyone will be happy.
