Practicing Fireworks Safety
Fireworks are something that many families enjoy during holidays and celebrations. The fun of using fireworks has to be tempered with concerns about safety. If you are not careful, then people could be hurt. Practicing fireworks safety involves doing several things.
- Always store and transport fireworks in a solid box: Some people who are celebrating will put fireworks in a pocket for convenience. You never want to put fireworks in your pocket for even a minute. Anything could happen leading to the fireworks exploding and causing serious injuries. You need to always store and transport fireworks in a solid box. This will protect them from harm or accidental firing. A box that has a tight lid is even better since it will keep everything out.
- Watch where fireworks are pointed: You have to be very careful about aiming and positioning fireworks that will launch off into the air once lit. You need to point those fireworks towards an area where there is no one standing. Never try to launch fireworks over a crowd or directly over a home. Check what is in the air as well. Try not to point fireworks are areas filled with trees, power lines or high structures.
- Never use jars or cans to launch fireworks: It can be tempting to grab a glass jar or an old metal can from the home to act as a launching device. You do not ever want to do this. If you rest a firework inside a jar and ignite it, then anything could happen. You could knock the jar over as you back away. The jar could fall over by itself. The firework might roll inside changing direction. You want to always firmly mount fireworks in the ground where they cannot move, shift or fall over. This is the safest way to use fireworks.
